Minstead Trust supports over 320 people with learning disabilities

We empower people to develop skills that allow them to gain greater independence and lead fulfilled lives.

We aim to remove barriers to ensure people with learning disabilities aren’t just supported by the community – they’re supported to make profound contributions to it.

A five year strategy to empower the people we support to reach their potential.

We are midway through an exciting new period for Minstead Trust. Our five year strategy lays out how we plan to go beyond the basic support that many people with learning disabilities receive through government funding.

We have actions we will take across three key areas:

  • Exploring and nurturing potential: People with learning disabilities usually have their needs assessed by the local authority. But delivering excellent care in support of someone’s assessed needs is only part of the story, and not everyone has an assessment.
  • Educating and inspiring society: People with learning disabilities have a huge amount to offer the world. But usually their input and influence is undervalued and ignored.
  • Involving the people we support throughout our organisation: This improves our services and makes it more likely that the people we support will fulfil their potential.
