Jonathan: Welcome Team Volunteer at Furzey Gardens

Jonathan joined our volunteer Welcome Team at Furzey Gardens at the start of summer 2023. With the help of his fabulous key worker Wendy and fellow volunteer Jane, Jonathan volunteers at the entrance hut, warmly welcoming our visitors as they arrive and handing out maps of the garden and our activity trails.

Jonathan says, ‘I love volunteering at Furzey Gardens. I welcome people on Thursdays and enjoy meeting new people. I have met visitors from Australia, France, Japan, Ireland and Ukraine. I really enjoy talking to them and being helpful.

In quieter moments, he likes to tell Jane all his news and chat to the garden team and other people supported by the Trust who all work in the cottage garden.

Jane says, ‘I am lucky enough to volunteer at Furzey gardens, meeting and greeting visitors, and on sunny days I enjoy the company of Jonathan who volunteers with me. Currently, we are busily promoting the Furzey show garden at Hampton Court this year by explaining all the good work of the Trust to the public and encouraging their support.
