Young people with learning disabilities often face a cliff edge as they exit full time education – often feeling lost and unsupported as they take the first daunting steps of their adult life.

Often this can lead to people retreating into themselves; choosing a life of limited horizons unfulfilled potential and hopelessness.

That’s why we have introduced a range of support specifically aimed at young people and their families to help them kick start their adult life.

Read on to find out more about our Bridging Programme and how it could help you find your feet and flourish in the adult world.

You could get two years of targeted support such as supported volunteering, groups to learn skills and develop relationships and help with everyday activities like shopping.

Tailored work programmes can help people gain the skills and opportunities they need to work towards fulfilling employment.

Activity programmes with other young people can help you to make friends and discuss issues.

There is also access to healthy lifestyle programmes, or skill-based groups or courses such as art, pottery or singing. In addition, people will have support to learn everyday activities such as shopping, laundry or socialising – everything you need to live a full and happy life.
