We are in the midst of great transformational change, with ambitious plans to deliver our mission to support people with learning disabilities to fully develop their individual potential. We do this by providing opportunities, enhancing life skills, ensuring informed choice, and influencing society.

This is a newly created volunteer role, one in which your support and influence will enable our CEO and leadership team to shape the future of the Trust and our role in creating sustainable support that goes beyond commissioned services.

Role Description:

The primary aim is to investigate and collate sector knowledge that will inform Minstead Trust’s decision-making, identifying lead players in learning disability support, their specialisms, potential synergy with Minstead Trust and spotting gaps in provision in our areas of operation.

This could include online research, collating articles and publications, attending events or webinars or making contacts in the sector.

How much or little time you give is entirely up to you. This role can be worked from home or on-site (Minstead, New Forest, or Southsea Portsmouth). This can be worked around any other time commitments you may have and there are no set deadlines.

We will reimburse reasonable out-of-pocket expenses and can provide access to a laptop or desktop computer if required. Our volunteers can also enjoy free membership to our social enterprises, Furzey Gardens and Hanger Farm Arts Centre.

Who are we looking for?

This voluntary role would suit anyone with a background in health and social care, someone wanting to support their professional development, or perhaps just eager to learn more about our sector and want to play a part in shaping our future.

You don’t need a formal qualification but should have an inquiring mind and be passionate about improving the lives of people with learning disability. It would be an advantage if you are familiar with using Microsoft Office /365, Outlook, or similar to be able to share and file information.

Most importantly you will share our values:

We appreciate each person. Everyone is different–we respect and celebrate this.
We are always learning. We all have something to offer and more to learn.
We are always improving. Striving to give our best and to have more impact.
We push for change. We will challenge society to be fully inclusive.
We find the joy in everyday life. We have the freedom to be ourselves and enjoy what we do

About Minstead Trust:
