An exciting opportunity has arisen to join us with working within our friendly and dedicated Supported Living Service located in Portsmouth.

Senior Support Worker 37.5 hours per week (Full Time) – Portsmouth (and the surrounding areas)

Flexible shifts over a 24/7 week, 365 days a year (Incl. weekends, bank holiday’s and sleep in shifts on a rota basis)

Salary: £25,837 per annum

The primary role is to support adults with learning disabilities assisting them to develop greater independence. You will be responsible for managing a single service and will take the lead on supporting individuals in the property to lead independent lives. This will include anything between going to the cinema to visiting a garden centre. Alongside this you will also lead your team through providing guidance, support, and training to further develop their skills.

The role:

  • To support individuals to meet their goals and outcomes in health, well-being, and independence
  • To support people with their individual personal, social, and healthcare needs as required
  • To contribute to the operational running, quality assurance and leadership of the designated team
  • To contribute to the management and leadership of Minstead Trust including undertaking on-call duties as required in order to ensure an effective 24-hour management team cover of the establishment
  • To provide guidance and support to the learning and development of the staff team to ensure they are prepared to deliver high-quality care
  • To monitor home life, care materials and equipment is in correct working order and report any faults
  • To build positive working relationships with family members, carers and other professionals as required

What are we looking for?

  • Enthusiastic and motivated individual
  • Good Listener, with adaptable communication skills
  • Experience of diary management
  • Outgoing individual who is happy to complete different activities
  • Experience of supporting people with learning disabilities, autism and behaviours that challenge is essential
  • Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care
  • A full UK driving licence, with access to a motorised vehicle (in-work travel paid)
