employment that empowers

Empowering Employment is Minstead Trust’s work training and employment programme.

Every week, we support people with learning disabilities and autism to build skills, receive training and work towards meaningful employment.

We also work with businesses to help them bridge employment gaps, empower individuals and reshape workplace inclusivity.

Finding a work role can be transformative for people, giving them pride, independence and fulfilment.

first steps after education

Our forward thinking Bridging Programme offers two years of targeted support, working together with each person to identify their strengths and interests and encouraging taster and trial activities in the community. This increases direct experience and helps everyone make more informed choices about what each person wants to do in life.

Tailored support can help people to gain the experience and skills they need to be more independent in living the lives they choose. Everyone will be encouraged to explore opportunities such as finding work, or volunteering, seeking creative networks, or even planning towards moving out of the family home to more independent living.

Our staff work closely with families and each individual to ensure everyone is working together towards achieving a full and happy life.

new ways of working: the triangle of support

Minstead Trust has successfully secured a  two year Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with  University of Essex funded by Innovate UK.

The partnership’s aim is to co-produce, implement and evaluate new ways of working which will revolutionise engagement between adults with learning disabilities, their family carers, and paid support staff.

We are keen to work with other providers, families and people with learning disabilities to increase the value of this work for the whole sector.
