We offer a wide range of activities and workshops at New Forest Day Opportunities.

We create tailored timetables for individuals to include a variety of workshops/sessions.

We begin our day at 9.30 and finish at 4pm. We stop at 11am for a tea/coffee break and 1pm for a lunch break. We have a morning session 9.30-1pm and an afternoon session 2-4pm.

Available activities

  • Furzey Gardens

    Care of the gardens at Furzey Gardens. All aspects of caring for a large garden open to the public.

  • Furzey Gardens Nursery

    Planting, growing, compost making, caring for the plant sales area at Furzey tea rooms.

  • Woodwork with Russell

    Sawing, sanding, varnishing, painting, making bird boxes, hedgehog houses, bug boxes that are then sold in Furzey café shop

  • Woodwork with Richard

    Sawing, sanding, varnishing, painting, making shelves, planters upcycling furniture that is then sold in Furzey café shop.

  • Ceramics

    Clay modelling, making bowls, mugs that are sold at Furzey café shop.

  • Crafts

    Felting, using wool felt, paper making, and using natural materials to make items for sale in Furzey tea rooms.

  • Wellbeing

    Yoga, meditation, exercising, sports all aspects of wellbeing and keeping ourselves healthy and well.

  • Grounds maintenance

    Caring for the grounds around Minstead Lodge. Raking, grass cutting, clearing shrubs.

  • Vegetable garden

    Caring for the vegetable and fruit growing in the walled garden. Seed planting, potting on, growing.

     

  • Animal care

    Caring for our two donkeys, goats and geese. Feeding, grooming and walking.

  • Ecology nature walk

    This session takes place on a Tuesday afternoon. An enjoyable nature walk which changes its destination each week.

  • Additional sessions - theatre, cycling and more

    Pedall inclusive cycling: This takes place from March to December. It is a cycle experience with trained instructors supporting a one-hour ride through the forest on accessible bikes.

    We take the group there and back in the minibus. There is an additional charge of £5.00 per session.

    Hanger Farm Community Theatre

    This group takes place on a Monday and Wednesday at Hanger Farm Arts Centre – a professional arts venue. We take the group there and back in the minibus.

    There is an additional charge of £6 per person.

  • Performing arts

    An opportunity to be part of a creative team, making puppets for an performances, or making costumes for the processions and celebrations, or playing fun games to learn to work together.

  • Weaving

    Weaving on traditional floor and table top looms making beautiful cloth that is then made into products for sale at Furzey Gardens shop nearby.

    Weaving at Minstead Lodge

  • Jam and Chutney making

    An opportunity to be involved in the production of jam and chutney and learn all the processes that are required to make a jar of jam.

    We run our own Real Jam & Chutney business, which sells quality products throughout Hampshire.
